Glioblastoma Survivor’s Best Friend Finny, 2023.
In 2025, my grandmother was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive type of brain cancer.
Days after getting this news, my immediate family and I took in her dog, Finny, for a short time while she prepared for brain surgery. Knowing how much Finny means to her, we brought her an illustration of Finny (one of several I drew over the years!).
This drawing was framed and hung in her hospital room, and helped bring her joy and comfort after she finished surgery. Since then, I’ve created more illustrations of dogs for other glioblastoma patients to help give comfort during treatment. I am aiming to create more of these illustrations for glioblastoma or other cancer patients.
This is part of my passion for not just art but also for helping cancer patients and their families, through fundraising and local charity work. In November 2025, I also raised funds for glioblastoma research through HYROX, and I am the VP on the Teen Board of Circle of Care, a local charity helping pediatric cancer patients and their families.
Gift of Science, 2018.
My father is a scientist that works in clinical drug development.
Every year his firm, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, would mail thank you cards to clinical trial patients to thank them for all of their sacrifices in the name of science.
I was fortunate to be able to participate in this contest in 2018 and was selected as a finalist. This drawing appeared on cards sent to thousands of clinical trial patients.
I was so thankful to be able to make even a small difference in these people’s lives.
This art piece was also featured at the Morris Museum (Morristown, NJ).
